Micro:bit

This week our Digital Leaders met for the first time this year. We explored the Micro:bit, a small computer that can allow the user to program various things, from badges to games and more.

We started by sending a simple message across the LED screen, before looking at how to code an interactive badge that animated between a happy or a sad face.

The day after this, the Digital Leaders in year 6 led their classes through short tasks. They did brilliantly and were really clear about their instructions.

HTML

This evening’s Digital Leaders meeting saw us having our first look at the HTML language. We started by looking at Hackasaurus and used the X-Ray goggles to see what tags appeared. Then we made a list of what we found. Here is what we thought they might mean…

After that, we hacked into some news story sites and edited them to make our own versions. Unfortunately we found that we couldn’t publish them as we used to as we now have to create an account.

Later on, we looked at the site Erase All Kittens. We found that this had lots of HTML in it too – we even recognised some of the tags!
